About the Artist

All art commissions are done by me, Amanda Moeckel.  Hello!

I've been doing animal portraits since 2001.  While studying Fine Art at American University, I decided to paint a friend's dog for his birthday.  MyAnimalArt.com was born soon after, and I've since completed over 400 portraits for private clients.  I enjoy making art for animal lovers, and love nothing more than to make people cry happy tears.  I recently received an MFA in Illustration from School of Visual Arts in NYC, and am a full-time working artist.

Like you, I know that our pets are family members & soulmates, with complex personalities and reasons for being in our lives.  It's important to me to get their personalities correct in my artwork.  I have fun coming up with unique ways to portray their character, (check out one of my newest concepts, "In Their Rooms If They Were Humans") and I truly feel a connection to every animal I draw and paint.

Another reason to choose me as the artist to commemorate your best friend?  I have been part of the animal protection movement for many years, and I've always cared deeply about animals. I regularly donate work to Foster Dogs NYC, and have given fundraising gifts to the Beagle Freedom Project, FARM, Farm Sanctuary, Compassion Over Killing, Harvest Home SanctuaryHen Harbor, Julianna's Animal Sanctuary and more.

Have a look at my portrait portfolio here.  Check out ConsiderAnimals.com for some animal protection art, and AmandaMoeckel.com for children's book and editorial work.

Lazarus, Butters, Ziggy (my studiomates) and I thank you for stopping by!
